For those of you who may have some basic questions because we are a new league if Fallbrook, we have assembled the most frequently asked questions and their answers below. If this does not answer your questions, please feel free to call us at 760.728.4AYF (4293).
1. Where will we be practicing?
All of our teams will be practicing at either Live Oak, Potter Junior High or Zion Lutheran School and Church which is just up the street from the two neighboring schools.
2. Where will we play our games?
We will be playing as many home games as we can get at the high school. AYFC feels it is very important to give it's new leagues as many home games as they can handle. Away game travel will be similar to other football leagues in Fallbrook although our geographic area is more south of Fallbrook as opposed to being more north of Fallbrook.
3. Is your Fall season regular 11 man football like Pop Warner?
Yes. Our 8 Man Spring League is just to keep our players sharp and give new players a chance to learn the game in a less stressful environment as their are no championships in Spring Ball. This is AYFC's first Spring Ball season and only some of our teams chose to try it out. National will be watching us and other areas as we work through this abridged team season and refine it for across the nation in the future. Our 11 Man Fall season is fully enjoyed by dozens of teams in the San Diego Conference. AYFC has a National Championship in Florida as well as the first ever National All Star East vs. West Game. AYFC teams are very competitive
4. What's the difference between AYFC and Pop Warner?
Good question. There are alot of ways to answer:
a. We cost less and we have no volunteer or equipment deposits. We work off the honor system and expect that our parents and players will be responsible and trustworthy.
b. We stress and value our entire community as a top priority and our many charity events and projects show this.
c. We stress academics before sports. Our School First Program is being developed to be the first of it's kind in Fallbrook. The program goes beyond simply verifying passing grades at the beginning of the season with a goal of keeping the grades up throughout the season and after.
d. Our coaches are chosen based on merit and go through a rigorous interview process that determines not only their abilities in the coaching arena but also their style of coaching and whether it fits in with the AYF philosophies. They are chosen by a coaching committee and not the Board of Directors. The Coaching Committee is made up of past coaches, Fallbrook HS representatives and other local coaches in the areas as well as parents. The Board has input but can not make the final decision.
5. How can AYF keep it's costs so much lower than other national youth football and cheer leagues?
Several reasons.
a. We don't spend money on unnecessary items that neither make our players safer or help them play better. We spend wisely and keep a very tight reign on our income and expenses. Our Treasurer must have a financial background and be conversant with IRS guidelines.
b. As the largest national youth football and cheer organization in the country, we have procured very good deals with our vendors thereby cutting our costs significantly.
c. Because we are so community oriented,we enjoy a wide variety of sponsors from Fallbrook and beyond. Their generosity plays a big role in our success.
